ZETLIN & DE CHIARA CONSIDERS THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT OF HEALTHCARE AT CONFERENCES IN NEW YORK AND TEXAS

(New York – September 14, 2017) Leading construction law firm, Zetlin & De Chiara, LLP is seeing the effects of the dramatic increase in the construction of health care facilities in the last several years, with $6 billion spent on the construction of hospitals between 2013-2015 in New York City alone.

As the healthcare industry evolves and healthcare facilities become increasingly specialized, these hospitals, ambulatory centers and other tertiary facilities are among the most expensive buildings to construct. To address the issues, two of the firm’s attorneys, Michael Zetlin and Michael Vardaro, will participate in national healthcare conferences this month.

Michael Zetlin, Co-Founding Partner, will moderate a panel, “Approaches to and Best Practices in Healthcare Construction,” at the Commercial Observer’s 2017 Healthcare Construction Report Conference: The Cure on September 19, 2017 in New York at the CUNY Graduate Center. Serving on the panel were: Joseph Chin, LF Driscoll Healthcare; Kevin Mannle, Nuhealth (Nassau University Medical Center & A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility); Peter Mulcahey, Gilbane Building Company; John Pierce, Rockefeller Group; and Roslyn Weinstein, NYC Health + Hospitals.

Zetlin will guide a conversation among experts from the city’s top healthcare institutions, construction companies and developers, who will explore issues currently shaping the national and regional healthcare construction markets. They will discuss the challenges faced by the industry and where their own organizations have found success as new healthcare policies and innovations are implemented and the demand for new facilities continues to grow.

Also on September 19, Michael Vardaro, Zetlin & De Chiara’s Managing Partner, will present “How to Avoid Work Delays, Cost Overruns and Quality Issues” at the Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo at the Convention Center in Austin, TX. Vardaro will address the challenges of constructing healthcare facilities and explore how, with proper attention and project controls, even the most complicated healthcare facility can be completed on schedule and within budget before an audience of industry leaders seeking ways to advance better delivery of healthcare through the physical space.
