The Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute Appoints Michael S. Zetlin to Advisory Board

Zetlin & De Chiara is pleased to announce that Founding Partner Michael S. Zetlin has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute of the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College.

“It’s an honor to receive this appointment by a distinguished organization which strives to identify pivotal knowledge and research and convert it into a clarified form for practical use for the real estate industry,” said Zetlin. “Having worked closely with the institute and the institute’s Executive Director Jack Nyman over the years, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as a dedicated advisor along with my fellow board members.”

The Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute, located at Baruch College, provides applied research, professional and continuing education, and conferences to the real estate industry, as well as to organizations focused on public policy. Since its founding in 1996, the Institute has pursued and provided timely insight on critical urban issues beyond those traditionally associated with core real estate topics. Focus areas include real estate, development, project finance, asset and energy management, urban policy, zoning and planning, neighborhood and historic preservation, affordable housing, market analysis and econometrics as well as public transportation, urban logistics and infrastructure, among others.

Michael S. Zetlin represents national and multi-national firms in a wide range of construction matters. A graduate civil engineer as well as an attorney, he has successfully litigated complex multi-million dollar construction claims and actively consults with clients on general business matters, construction contracting and risk management. He represents owners, developers, design professionals, construction managers, contractors and other parties in the construction industry.

In addition to his new role on the Advisory Board of the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute, Mr. Zetlin serves as the General Counsel to the New York Building Congress and to the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He is an adjunct professor at Columbia University, teaching the graduate program "Legal Issues in Building Construction," and is the co-editor of New York Construction Law, the definitive treatise on construction law in New York.
